Spreaders, Stickers, Surfactants, Buffers, Defoamers, Colorants, and Tank Cleaners
Even if you choose the appropriate product, follow the label directions to
the letter, use the correct spray equipment and apply under ideal environmental
conditions, spray adjuvants may be needed to help capture the full value from
your spray application and/or offset potential problems.
By definition, adjuvants are materials that are added to a tank mix for one
of the following reasons:
- To enhance the activity, or performance of a pesticide.
- To minimize or eliminate spray application problems such as drift, by modifying
the physical characteristics of a spray mixture.
In recent years, adjuvant technology has made significant advances. These products
perform a wide variety of functions that improve the performance of a spray
solution. Some of these functions include deposition, spreading, sticking, compatibility,
buffering, dispersing, emulsifying, reducing foam, reducing evaporation, minimizing
spray drift and many others.
Here at Rosecare.com we pride ourselves on our complete selection of spray
adjuvants. This selection provides you with a source for the best adjuvant applicable
to your needs.
Some Helpful Terminology
Acidifier - material that can be added to spray mixture to lower the
pH.
Activator - material that increases the biological efficacy of agrichemicals.
Antifoaming Agent - material used to inhibit or prevent the formation
of foam.
Buffer - a compound or mixture that, when contained in a solution, causes
the solution to resist change in pH. Each buffer has a characteristic limited
range of pH over which it is effective.
Colorant - a material used to alter the color of the tank mix.
Defoamer/Antifoaming Agent - material that eliminates or suppresses foam
in the spray tank.
Drift Control Agent - a material used in liquid spray mixtures to reduce
spray drift.
Penetrant - a material that enhances the ability of an agrichemical to
enter a substrate or penetrate a surface.
Spreader / Wetting Agent - a material which increases the area that a
droplet of a given volume of spray mixture will cover on a target.
Spreader / Sticker - a material that has the properties of both a spreader
and sticker.
Sticker / Deposition Aid - a material that assists the spray deposit
to adhere or stick to targeted surfaces.
